School For The Gifted
University. Post Secondary. A place where you and finally spread your wings and get to know yourself. More choices are layed out in front of you, as well as twice as many opportunities. However, with these opportunities also comes responisibilities, you have to pay rent, bills and worry about all of the little things. To top it all off, you have to study for exams and attend classes that you may have not even signed up for. Well, this would be at a regular University. This is the University of Vancouver for the Gifted. Where you have to be really rich or extremely talented in the arts to even think about enrolling. You must be willing to spend endless nights practising and rehersing, even if it means staying up endless nights to do so. You are also competing against other musicians to get the best jobs and recommendations from your professor. It's bad to slack, or else you won't get very far, not very far at all.
However, amongst the univeristy are not just students, there are citizens that run shops all around Vancouver. They maybe adults or even teenagers attending a nearby highschool, they all make up the city that is Vancouver. Most of them just work in stores or are even one of your professors. Some of them are students parents or maybe their landowner, drug dealer? Everyone had their secrets. Citizens also have drama in their lives, maybe getting a divorce or maybe even being in a gang and having a loved one lost in a shoot out? No one knows. The whole city is shrouded in drama, never being able to just have a normal day, unless you are really lucky. The proffessors also have drama amongst themselves and their students. I shall let your imagination wonder.
Some people can't handle the pressure and feel that their music is all they have. They send themselves away into their room and barely ever come out of it because all they think is worth doing is playing their music and writing. That is how the University of Vancouver choses their students. If you have extreme talent and they think hat you are worthy of their time, they will choose you. Also, these greedy b*stards also love money. So, even if you are completely talentless, you can still get in with the right amount of money. Not fair? Well, there is another test that UVAN gives it's students, life isn't fair. If you have a small family and something happens to the rent payment, guess what? The government doesn't care. Students may have to juggle work and school as well as a small family, it can get really tough around here. Do you think you can survive? Or will you crack under the pressure of the real world?
